Another pic with the monitor in place |
Lower angle, where you can see the grooves for the "T" bumper |
Redrilled the control holes, and started to put things together. |
|
Look how awesome... |
Time to run the work past the boss. This is after all a birthday present for her. *wink* |
After a quick fix of Ms. Pacman, I get the nod approval, and it's back to work for me! |
|
Did I mention that the trackball lights up ? No ?...Well it does :) |
All the controls are in, the trackball is lit, and Gentoo is booting. Life is good. |
Another angle, and the GDM screen awaiting login. |
|
OK, I admit it, sometimes I get so into what I'm doing, I forget to take pictures. Such is the case here - but doesn't it look good all put together ? |
T2 - yeay |
Here you can see the controls, and if you look close, the black on black buttons near each joystick position. These are coin overrides. The coin door was on back order, so I needed a way to "add quarters". |
|
This is what the wiring looks like, took a long time to get it all right. You can also see the proper positioning of the trackball :) |
When manual intervention is required, I can get to the keyboard. |
Keyboard out, and MythTV screen loading. MythTV is overkill for a Mame cabinet, but I needed a decent menu system for all those games. Plus, this has the added bonus of letting me watch TV on it :) |
|
The boss is pleased. She has Ms. Pacman and Galaga, I have everything else :) |
Overhead view of the control panel, complete with labels. As a Side note, the colors I chose for each position match up with Gauntlet. Yes I can play 4 player Gauntlet :) |
There it is all complete. |
|
A close up of the coin door which finally arrived. |
Inside the coin door. You can see the wires, and lights, see it OBVIOUSLY works! |
One last shot - this time of Road Blasters |

your own personal video game system...

My hat is off to you and I bow to your geekness. Great job buddy. I remember "back in the day" when we built stuff in my basement. This doesn't even come close. Miss building things with you man! It's been Too Long :)
